Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9/23/2025
This Privacy Policy explains how ootify collects, uses, and protects information when you use our browser add-on and related services (collectively, the “Service”). We designed ootify to be local-first and privacy-conscious.
What we are
ootify is a browser add-on that overlays e‑commerce sites so you can highlight products, build a simple outfit, and generate a try‑on using your photos.
Data we process
- Overlay interactions: slot selections, product metadata (e.g., page URL, product title, image URL, detected price/currency), and local preferences. By default these are stored locally in your browser.
- User photos: photos you add in the add‑on for try‑on. These remain local unless you explicitly request a generation.
- Generation payloads: when you click Generate, we package only the minimum data required (e.g., selected product imagery or references and your photos) and send it to our generation API.
Images sent to our API
When you request a try‑on, images you provide (including your photos and product references) may be transmitted to and processed by our servers and/or trusted third‑party processors to generate results. To improve safety, quality, and to support debugging, abuse prevention, and model evaluation, we may store any image the end‑user sends through our API, together with associated metadata (e.g., request timestamps and minimal technical logs).
We retain such content only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above, after which it is deleted or de‑identified. You can contact us to request deletion of stored content tied to your account or request identifier, subject to legal obligations and rate‑limit/ abuse investigations.
Local-first by default
Outside of an explicit generation request, ootify does not transmit your photos, outfit selections, or product browsing to our servers. Those remain in your browser storage.
Legal bases
Where applicable, we rely on consent to process generation payloads; legitimate interests to maintain and improve the Service, prevent abuse, and ensure security; and legal obligations where required.
How we use information
- Provide and improve try‑on generation and overlay features.
- Maintain security, debug issues, and prevent abuse.
- Understand aggregate usage patterns (in a privacy‑preserving way).
Sharing
We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, content processing) under contracts requiring confidentiality and appropriate safeguards. We may disclose information to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, property, or safety.
Security
We employ technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risks of processing user content. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; use the Service at your discretion and avoid uploading sensitive images.
Data retention
Local data persists in your browser until you clear it. API‑processed images and related logs may be stored for limited periods to support the purposes described above and are then deleted or de‑identified.
Your choices
- Use the add‑on entirely locally without generating try‑ons.
- Delete local data via your browser or the add‑on settings.
- Contact us to request deletion of stored API content where feasible.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided images or information, contact us for removal.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted by updating the “Last updated” date and, when appropriate, additional notice in the add‑on or site.
